James Ash is a photographer based in Truckee, California. The work is alpine and mountain stills, with skiing and ski mountaineering at the center.

The mountains came early. He grew up around them, and has spent most of his life on skis and on rock. The camera arrived in late 2024.

The photographs gathered here are the work of the past year. Alta, in arctic Norway. The eastern Sierra Nevada. Mount Shasta and the Cascades follow.
